With Q3 Telerik Reporting will introduce the first native Silverlight report viewer on the market. It will allow developers to deliver reports produced by Telerik Reporting to any rich application developed with Silverlight. The viewer will support all functionality available in the Web and Win Viewers, including exporting to all supported formats as well as printing. Since reports will be rendered in XAML, Telerik Reporting will also support the newest web format from Microsoft - XPS. Thanks to this addition Telerik Reporting will provide you with superior flexibility of creating your reports once and embedding them in Windows Forms, ASP.NET AJAX and/or Silverlight applications.
Sticking to our mission of delivering the easiest tool for creating and styling reports, Telerik Reporting will also offer a number of design time enhancements. We have extended the handy Group Explorer (now a dockable ToolWindow) to visualize each reports group hierarchy allowing for easy maintenance. Design-time Undo and Redo functionality has been added as well that will put more control into the hands of developers. You will also be able to switch table rows and columns (and vice-versa) by using a single button.
Again aimed at productivity, the new version of Telerik Reporting will allow developers to add a Document Map to each report that will visualize the report data in a tree-like fashion. This feature is especially useful for larger reports where navigation between the different report groups is difficult and time-consuming. The Document Map will be available in all three viewers (ASP.NET, WinForms and Silverlight) and in the supported export formats, such as PDF.
If all these new functionalities got you thinking about performance, you will be happy to know that Telerik Reporting Q3 2009 has been fine-tuned to bring lower memory consumption, and 2 to 3 times faster report rendering.
