The constant improvements in all of Teleriks product lines will not forego the WinForms suite with Q3 release. Aiming at a more stable and reliable RadControls toolset we stressed a lot of effort on performance improvements.
Again, we concentrated on optimizing the Telerik Presentation Framework and the theming mechanism. By refactoring the RadElement lifecycle we have brought better performing RadControls to the world of WinForms. Application load and dispose times have been improved significantly and depending on the used controls you could face up to 300% faster load time. The new RadElement life cycle also eliminates the major disadvantages of the previous element trees slow loading mechanism.
Another step forward in Q3 release of WinForms is a polished theming mechanism giving a more refined look of your desktop applications. On top of that we will introduce improvements in theming behavior and memory footprint. Breaking optimizations in load times, form creation and theme changing performance are among the things we have been working on over the past months and will reveal with Q3 release.
As a response to the many customers needs we have added an HTML markup editor on framework level to simplify the way users and developers edit text properties and labels. The extended HTML-like formatting comes in design and markup mode. The supported markup has been enhanced with tags for relative font size, lists, links, background-color, style, and image support. And we have achieved extensive performance gains in text rendering of up to 45%.
Among the control improvements are resource grouping and event drag-and-drop reorganization in RadScheduler, new and superior scrolling mechanism for RadGridView, and enhanced data binding in RadComboBox and RadListBox, which results in faster binding, support for large number of items, and memory footprint improvements.
