Microsoft releases the source for the .NET library

ScottGu just mentioned it: With the release of Visual Studio 2008 Microsoft is going to release the source for the major namespaces of the .net Framework. This is a huge annoucement for the .net community, it will make developing so much easier. I don't know how many times I had to open refactor to checkout the source for certain namespaces.

Now if we could just update the source :)

I'm with Frans Bouma on this one - weblogs.asp.net/.../don-t-look-at-the-sourcecode-of-net-licensed-under-the-reference-license.aspx.

I am not sure about that. I think its still a huge benefit for the community to have the source - even if are not able to modify it. But who knows maybe one day MS will allow us to do so. I would have never thought that MS would release the source for the .net framework and now its here.
