IE and Windows XP

We had a weird error with IE 6 in our web site.  In order to figure out the issue, it required going back to IE 6, from IE 8.  In order to do that, you can simply go to the control panel, add/remove programs, and unintall internet explorer.  Rather than uninstalling it completely, it rolls back the version first to IE 7 and then to IE 6.  However, there's a catch: if you've installed Windows XP Service Pack 3, you cannot uninstall IE 7 to get to 6.  You must first uninstall XP Service Pack 3 to then be able to uninstall IE 6.

Weird.
